Dr. Stephen Siauw

Stephen Siauw is of Chinese origin, but was born and grew up in Indonesia. He graduated from the Medical College of the National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan in 1965. Following graduation, he came to Canada and completed his internship at the Regina General Hospital, followed by residency training in General Pediatrics at the Saint John General Hospital and the Winnipeg Children's Hospital.
In 1971, at the invitation of his friend and mentor, Dr. Glen MacDonald, he returned to Saint John to join and later took over Dr. MacDonald's busy practice. He is also a lecturer in the Department of Pediatrics and a part-time academic staff member of the Faculty of Medicine, Dalhousie University.
After 34 years of a busy yet enjoyable and fulfilling practice, he closed his office on 30 June 2005 at the age of 68. He is still involved part-time in the care of newborn babies at the Atlantic Health and Science Centre, Saint John, whilst enjoying life with his wife of 43 years, Mary, their three grown children, their spouses and five wonderful grandchildren.
